TerraSentia - The Crop Monitoring and Scouting Robot

Farming is a human-intensive sector and complete automation of farming is the most challenging and tedious task than any other one.
We have drones and robots like Tarzan to monitor crops. Here is one more addition to it - TerraSentia, a crop monitoring, and scouting robot.
TerraSentia

TerraSentia is an agricultural robot which was developed at the University of Illinois to aid in crop monitoring and scouting.

The completely automated robot is four-wheeled, 13 inches wide and weighs 24 pounds. Its lightweight makes it easier to move between crops without seriously damaging it. The robot is built with a variety of sensors on it to monitor the health of crops by measuring its key traits like height, coloration, insect infestations, and growth rate.  Its sensors are also designed to be flexible and customizable to suit the needs of the breeder and growers alike.

TerraSentia is a big boon for breeders who are trying to differentiate between different genotypes of plants. It helps them to identify the variety of crops doing well in a particular environment. The majority of this is done manually and is an extremely expensive and time-consuming process. Sometimes, they are inaccurate and inadequate due to human constraints. With TerraSentia, things can be done quickly and also at a high quality.
